The importance of kindness you ask? Well, because it is more powerful than you know. Kindness truly is one of the most important things in the world. To be kind, is everything. It is the most beautiful character trait and makes you shine from the inside out. It is what life is about, to love and be loved. Kindness is love.
Think back to a time when someone has shown you kindness in your life, how much does it warm your heart and make you feel like you’re wrapped in a big cozy blanket of love? Think about the impact it has on you, and how that plays into other people and areas of your life. When you receive kindness, you pass it on, it is a cycle that has no end. And, whether you’re the one giving out the kindness, or you’re on the receiving end, the impact is just as powerful. Hence, kindness is so important because it really does make the world a better place. Its impact cannot be measured, because it’s beyond measurement, it’s beyond words, it’s beyond what we know – it’s part of its own little magic realm.
Kindness. Is. Magic.
So whenever you have the choice to be kind, do it – and I’ll give you a hot tip, you always have the choice to be kind. Every day, in every interaction, every situation, every experience – you can choose kindness. It’s important because at the end of the day, we are all the same, and we’re all just trying to do our best. All of us want – and need – kindness, it makes the world a better place, for real. It doesn’t mean that you need to be best friends with everybody, or accept poor behavior or wrongful doing, but you can be kind in your approach, in your response, in your language and your actions. Next time you’re faced with an unpleasant day-to-day situation; something frustrating happens at work, traffic is bumper to bumper, someone at the grocery store cuts in front of you in the line, you’re on the phone to a customer service representative trying to rectify a not-so-great situation … aka, they have messed up your bill, your internet keeps cutting out, an appointment has been double booked, you’ve been charged a fee, you’re disputing a parking ticket, a delivery has been lost etc etc – you know the ones, I urge you to try something, take a pause – a deep breath if you will – and choose kindness, remember that the person you are interacting with is a human living a human experience, just like you, they might be having a bad day, you don’t know what’s going on in their life and you know what… it’s probably not their fault / they didn’t mean it / they have sh*t going on which means they’re in their own little world, they’re human and make mistakes (just like me and you) and they could probably use, and would very much appreciate, some kindness. And sometimes, in those moments, a little kindness goes a long way.
So, remember to stop and think about the impact of kindness and that being kinder really is one of the most important things you can work on, consciously look for opportunities to be kind – to loved ones, strangers and yourself – and especially in those moments when your first instinct isn’t necessarily kindness, stop and re-think it, think about how important kindness is and what a difference it could make to you, the other person and the entire situation if you choose kind.
